Fourier Bubba Knox

February 7, 1916 — December 28, 2010

On February 7, 1916, Leroy Knox and Clara J. Lockthridge Knox welcomed to their family a handsome baby boy. They named him Fourier. He was affectionately called “Bubba” by his family and friends. He was raised in Clark County, Arkansas and attended Peake High School. Nurtured in a Christian environment, Fourier gave his life to Christ at a young age and joined Greater Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church in 1925. He was a lifelong member who served faithfully as a member of both the Male Chorus and the Sanctuary Choir. In July 2003, he was recognized by the Greater Pleasant Hill family as the member of the month. At his demise, he held the distinguished honor as being the oldest member of Greater Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. On December 12, 1936, he married the beautiful Annie Arilla Turner, his sweetheart and one true love. Together they laid a solid foundation for family life based on love, commitment, and Christian values. They later became proud parents of five caring and devoted children. He was not a man of many words, but of many virtues. He was a good man and a hard worker having worked as a self-employed construction worker. He traveled this road of life and dealt with the stormy and sunny days along the way to the best of his ability. Fourier completed his earthly journey when his immortal spirit soared to its eternal resting place on Tuesday, December 28, 2010, at Baptist Health Medical Center in Arkadelphia with his family by his side. Those awaiting his arrival to welcome him home are his parents, his beloved wife Annie, who made her transition on April 6, 1995, and two sons, Donald L. Knox and James C. Knox. His favorite scripture I John 4:8 reads “Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.” Because love is far greater that death, Bubba departed this earth in body only. His gentle smile and infectious laugh will live on in the memories, minds and hearts of his children: Flora J. Knox-Miller of Dallas, TX, Shirley L. Knox of Arkadelphia, and Edward R. Knox of Arkadelphia; a daughter-in-law, Lauretta Knox of Fordyce, AR; twelve grandchildren, Darrell Knox, Flora Jackson, Sandra (Eli) McGhee, Phyllis (Eldridge) Jones, Jamie Knox, Tonya Knox, Christopher (Pam) Knox, Frederick Miller, Ronald (Debra) Miller, Kyla Pruitt, Andre Knox and Kennetta Knox; fifteen great-grandchildren, nine great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, countless friends and the Greater Pleasant Hill Baptist Church family. Mr. Knox will lie in repose at the funeral home on Friday, December 31, 2010, from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. The family will receive friends and share with them the Images of Life DVD from 6-7 p.m. His home going celebration will be held on Saturday, January 1, 2011, in the sanctuary of Greater Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where Dr. Lewis A. Shepherd, Jr., is the pastor and will deliver the words of comfort. The committal service and final resting place will be Helms Cemetery.
