Nikita Renee Reed

April 26, 1986 — January 4, 2011

Into Heaven’s mansions she’s entered, never to sigh or to weep: After years with life’s struggles, Nikita has fallen asleep. Angels through heaven will guide her, Jesus will still bless and keep; not for the world we would wake her, Nikita has fallen asleep. Beautiful rest for the weary, well deserved rest for the true; when life’s journey is ended we shall again be with you. This helps to quiet our weeping – Hark Angel music so sweet! He giveth to His beloved, beautiful, beautiful sleep. On April 26, 1986, in Arkadelphia, Arkansas William and Gwendolyn Reed welcomed the birth of a daughter, they named Nikita Renee. Nikita was an active member of Mt. Olive AME Church. She attended school in the Arkadelphia Public school system and was a 2005 graduate of Arkadelphia High School, where she excelled as a student. Nikita had a vivacious and loving spirit. Her smile would light up a room anywhere she went. She was an employee of the Honeycomb restaurant downtown Arkadelphia. Her beautiful smile and sweet laugh will be truly missed. On Tuesday, January 4th, 2011, at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock Nikita passed from time into eternity and now rests in the arms of her Savior. During all of her twenty-four seasons of life, she made friends across race, gender, faith, creed and inspired everyone who crossed her path. Nikita has left indelible impressions in the hearts and minds of her parents, William and Gwendolyn Reed of Arkadelphia; her beloved sister, Kristen Reed of Arkadelphia; her grandparents, William and Juanita Reed of Arkadelphia and grandfather, James Henry Jones of Arkadelphia; two nieces, Jasmine and Jaleyah Newborn; and one nephew, Kameron Reese. Nikita also leaves her aunts Gloria (Bobby) Perry of Clarksville, TN, Michelle Hughes of Little Rock, AR; uncles, John W. Jones and Leslie Jones both of Arkadelphia, AR; her loving god-mother, Doretha Lacy; a very special friend, Trevon Hale, several cousins, numerous friends, the Honeycomb family and the Mt. Olive AME Church family. A celebration of her life will be shared on Friday, January 7th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul AME Church where Rev. T. W. Scott is the pastor. Rev. Linda Butler, the pastor of Mt. Olive AME Church in Dalark will preach a message of comfort and hope. Nikita will lie in repose at the funeral home on Thursday, January 6th from 2:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. The committal service and earthly resting place will be in Piney Grove Cemetery. A musical benefit for Nikita will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 8, 2011, at Mt. Olive AME Church. For more information call 870-210-9033
