Carlzetta Renee Hadley Cummings was the only child born to Anthony K. Saxton and Rosie V. Hadley in Little Rock, Arkansas on July 21, 1986. For over twenty-four years, she lived a faithful life with hope in Christ and a commitment to serve her community. She embraced life by the teaching that ”a good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favor rather than silver and gold.”
Nurtured in a Christian environment, she accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior. She became a member of First Deliverance Temple in Lonoke under the leadership of Bishop Elsie Williams. She later joined Greater Pleasant Hill Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Lewis A. Shepherd, Jr., where she along with Reo served as co-chairs of the College Ministry.
Carlzetta graduated with honors from Carlisle High School. Her educational pursuit was continued at Henderson State University, where she earned both Bachelor of Arts in Accounting and Master of Arts in Business Administration.
While attending Henderson State University, she met Reo Cummings. After months of dating they married on June 17, 2006. On May 20, 2009, the Lord entrusted into their care a beautiful baby boy whom they named Riley. Riley brought so much love and joy into their lives.
Carlzetta was employed as a check image operator with Smiley Technologies at Elk Horn Bank, a bookkeeper at L. M. Goza Jr. High school, PRIME Time and as a case manager with the Arkadelphia Public School District. Her dream finally came true when she was hired as a Senior Accounting Executive with Georgia Pacific in Crossett, Arkansas.
She was actively involved in many groups and organizations. She became a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Theta Eta Chapter, Henderson State University during the fall semester 2007. She served as a member of the Hospitality Committee in fall 2007 and as president of Theta Eta, fall 2008. She was a proud member of the Chi Nu Omega Chapter of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, where she was serving as vice-president.
Carlzetta was preceded in death by her grandfather, Auvurn Saxton, and her great-grandparents, Odessa and Frank Williams as well as Toni and Lucinda Howell.
When one is remembered, she never dies; Carlzetta lives on in the hearts of her husband, Reo and their son, Riley Sameer; her pet english bull dog, King Boy; her parents, Anthony Saxton and Rosie Hadley; her mother-in-law, Alice Cummings; her grandmothers, Ida Williams and Maude Saxton; her sisters and special friends, Kendra Jackson, Kayla Saxton, Crystal Larkin, Alex Saye, Lloyd Saye and Debany Booker; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and a caravan of friends.
Carlzetta will lie in repose at Greater Pleasant Hill Baptist Church on Friday, January 14, 2011 from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. The family will greet and receive friends from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. concluded with the Ivy Beyond the Wall ceremony by Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
The celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 15, 2011 in the sanctuary of Greater Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where Dr. Lewis A. Shepherd, Jr., is the pastor and will deliver the eulogy.
The committal service and earthly resting place will be in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.
Bearers of the casket will be James Ward, Steve Hadley, Damon Hart, Vern Wright, Anthony Wilson, and Carl Polite.
Honorary bearers of the casket will the brothers of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
