To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
Katlin Edjuan “Kat” Lidge was born into time on June 29, 1985, in Hope, Arkansas the son of Shirley Jean Brown Franklin and Sam Stafford.
Katlin grew up to be a talented and handsome young man. Katlin was a 2004 graduate of Monticello High School where he excelled not only as student, but as an athlete. He played the Linebacker position for the Monticello Billie’s and had a record of 400 career tackles at Monticello High School. He was named outstanding Defensive Player of the year and was an All State Football Player. Katlin was a stellar athlete and received a full scholarship to the University of Arkansas at Monticello where he studied business management and was slated to graduate in May 2011.
Katlin loved kids and worked with the after school program in Monticello. He attended Revival Center Church and in the Fall 2005, he pledged with the Kappa Eta Chapter of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity.
Katlin was that cool, laid-back friend who was in tune with the latest trends of the 21st century. He had a great sense of humor and never met a stranger.
In his 25th season of life, Kat surrendered his soul on Sunday, March 6, 2011, at Drew Memorial Hospital; and now he is present with the Lord.
During all of his twenty-five seasons, he made friends across race, gender, faith and creed; gave generously to those in need and inspired everyone who crossed his path.
Family, as well as friends, will miss his quiet strength, smile and love, but will never forget his spirit and compassion. He lived life to the fullest, and there was never a dull moment when Kat was around.
When one is remembered, he never dies; Katlin lives on in the hearts of his son, Breylen Hendrix of Gurdon, his mother, Shirley Brown Franklin of Arkadelphia, his father, Sam Stafford of Prescott; four sisters, Francis Harper of Dallas, Texas, Sharon Lidge of Prescott, Stephanie Anderson of Gurdon, and Misty Lidge and her fiancé Shawn Shaw of Nash, Texas; six brothers, Harold Lidge of Hope, Napoleon Briggs of El Paso, Texas, Jonathan Briggs, Tracy Stafford and Samuel Stafford of Prescott, Tyrone Stafford of Texarkana; grandmother, Gennie V. Cunningham of Gurdon; four aunts, Alice Wilson of Gurdon, AR, Shelia Tidwell of Arkadelphia, AR, Darlene Hughes of Gurdon, AR, and Patricia Blake of Prescott, AR; two uncles, Burnette Muldro of Prescott, AR, and Willie A. Stafford of Kansas City, KS, and a host of nieces, nephews, numerous cousins and several friends.
Mr. Lidge will lie in repose at Munns Chapel Baptist Church, 601 Moncrief & Greenlawn, in Prescott on Friday, March 11th from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. The family with receive friends and share with them the Images of Life DVD from 5-7 p.m.
The last farewell and tributes to his life will be shared on Saturday, March 12th at 1:00 p.m. at The Revival Center Church (311 S. Pine) in Monticello, Arkansas where Rev. Michael Jones is the pastor and will deliver the message. Katlin will lie in repose one hour prior to service.
The committal service and final resting place will be in DeAnn Cemetery in Prescott.
Bearers of the casket will be Andre Lattimore, Jimmy Bradley, Von Mixon, Jr., Demarcus Wilson, Robert Jackson, Matthew Wade, Walter Warfield, Brandon Mayweather and other brothers of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity.
