Daise Lee Simpson

December 16, 1951 — March 24, 2011

“He reached down from Heaven and took me and drew me out of my great trials.” - Psalm 18:16 Daise Lee Simpson began her journey of life on December 16, 1951, in Dallas County, Arkansas, as the daughter of R. D. and Mable Keith Lock. Nurtured in a Christian environment, Daise gave her life to Christ at a young age and joined Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church where she served as youth choir director, with the usher board and the missionary society. She later united with the Church of Living God Pillar Ground of the Truth in Vaden, Arkansas. She remained a faithful member until her health would no longer permit her to attend on a regular basis. She was a graduate of the Sparkman Training School. She grew up to be a beautiful and intelligent young woman. On December 16, 1968, she became Mrs. Daise Lee Simpson, when she married the handsome Willie Simpson, Jr., her sweetheart and one true love; and together they laid a solid foundation for family life based on love, commitment, and Christian values. They later became proud parents of seven caring and devoted children: Mabel, Stephanie, Mechiel, Anthony, Sedric, Brandy and Brandon. They made many sacrifices to raise and nurture their children. Her strength always presented a bright lighthouse in her life and the life of her family. Daise was a part of that generation that counted motherhood as a virtue because mothers knew the difference between a house and home. So her golden accomplishment in life was to make a loving home that would produce a tapestry of memories her family would forever cherish. She loved to fish and was a great cook. She was a lover of music; some of favorite songs were “Move Upstairs,” and “Happy Til Jesus Come.” She possessed an infectious smile that would chase the chill from any room. She lived life to the fullest, and there was never a dull moment when Dasie Lee was around. In her 59th season of life, Daise Lee received her blessing of immortality on Thursday, March 24, 2011, at her home in Sparkman surrounded by her husband, children, sisters, other family members and friends. Daise was welcomed home by her loving parents, her sister Mary Hughes and her son Anthony Lewis Simpson, who made his transition on (April 15, 1970 - April 28, 1992). She will forever be remembered by her husband of 42 years, Willie Simpson, Jr.; her children, Mabel Lock of Eldorado, Stephanie (Richard) Williams of Newport, Mechiel (Will) Leblue of Killeen, Texas, Sedric Simpson and Brandy Simpson of Sparkman, and Brandon Simpson of Arkadelphia; one brother, Arthur (Jocelyn) Lock of little Rock; four sisters, Dorothy Allen (C. L.) of Arkadelphia, Marilyn (Patrick) Wolfe of Plummerville, Janet (Carl) Harris of Conway, and Melinda Dobbins of Marianna. She also leaves Jeffery Berry of Arkadelphia, who was raised as her son; fourteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one Aunt, Erma Hall of Sparkman; one uncle, Leon Keith of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; her special “sisters” friends, Opal Blevins of Sparkman and Ella Henderson of Dalark; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and numerous friends. Mrs. Simpson will lie in repose in the funeral home Friday, April 1st from 2:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. The family with receive friends and share with them the Images of Life DVD from 6:00-7:00 p.m. The last farewell and tributes to her life will be shared at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 2nd at Macedonia Baptist Church, where J. L. Newborn is the pastor. Bishop Roosevelt Pigg and Bishop R. T. Turner of the Church Of Living God Pillar Ground of the Truth will deliver words of comfort. The committal service and final resting place will be in Harmony Cemetery. Bearers of the casket will be David Burks, Johnnie Smith, Ricky Craig, Howard Knight, Jason Simpson, and John Burks.
