Luevenia Craigg, 83, died Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at WakeMed Hospital in Raleigh, North Carolina. She was born on February 28, 1928 to the late Garland Walker and Lucy Anderson Walker of Sparkman, Arkansas.. Luevenia's formal education was at Sparkman Training School. On June 2, 1945, she united in holy matrimony to London Craigg and to this union four children were born. Sister Craigg accepted Christ at a very early age and united with St James AME Church in Sparkman. She was a faithful member and active participant of the church auxiliary organizations, including the Missionary Society and the choir. She was the church treasurer for many years and graciously filled in wherever help was needed within the church. She also served as treasurer of the Center Point Cemetery Fund for many years. Her work experience included working at Crudup’s Grocery in Sparkman. Memorable events for Luevenia always included the enjoyment of the holidays and other occasions when her family members would visit. She had a very special way of preparing meals that everyone enjoyed. Her hobbies included reading, fishing, bingo and "Find a Word" puzzles. After the death of her husband in 2007, Luevenia moved to Raleigh, North Carolina to live with her daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Robert Hunter. She also spent time with her Son and daughter-in-law, Garland and Janet Craigg, in Greensboro, North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband London, as well as four brothers and four sisters. Survivors are one brother, Anderson Walker of Arkadelphia, AR; her four children: Mary and husband Robert of Raleigh, NC; Freddie and wife Mary of Little Rock, AR; Garland and wife Janet of Greensboro, NC and Carla of Fayetteville, AR. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Mrs. Craigg will lie in repose on Monday, May 30th from 5:00 until 7:00pm at the funeral home. A celebration of her life will be held on at 11am on Tuesday, May 31st at Center Point AME Church in Sparkman, AR. Rev Thomas Brazil will deliver the message. Mrs. Craigg will be available for viewing one hour prior to service time at the church. The committal service and final resting place will be at Centerpoint Cemetery.
