Vivian Marie Smith

Vivian Marie Williams Smith was born on August 22, 1921, in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. She was the second child of six children born to Thomas and Arlean Jones Williams. Vivian gave her life to Christ at a young age and was baptized. She was a faithful member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Malvern, Arkansas where she served as an usher. She attended Peake High School in Arkadelphia and was employed at the Levi Strauss Company. She became Mrs. Vivian Smith, when she married the love of her life Wade “Kitty” Smith. Although she had no children of her own, she was very active in the lives of her nieces and nephews. Vivian and Kitty made their home in Malvern, Arkansas. Vivian was a devoted wife, sister, aunt, and trusted friend. She was very outgoing and had a great sense of humor. She traded time for eternity on Saturday, June 4, 2011 at Hot Springs county Medical Center in Malvern, Arkansas. She was preceded in transition by her parents; her husband Kitty; her siblings Therrie Williams, Sr., Dorothy Jean Williams, Lawrence Williams, Sr., and Fernell H. Williams. She will be forever remembered by her sister, Ruthie T. Knox of Arkadelphia, AR; her nieces and nephews, Alma Jean (James) Whitehead of Dallas, TX, Cornelius Williams of St. Louis, MO, Charles (Elaine) Williams of Bellevue, WA, a special nephew Attorney Larry D. (Doris) Williams of Springfield, VA, Sherry (Elijah) Cannon of St. Louis, MO, Therrie, Jr. (Gwendolyn) Williams of Gary, Indiana, Lawrence Williams, Jr., of St. Louis, MO, Linda Williams of Gary, IN, Wanda Williams of Gary, IN, Gloria Williams of St. Louis, MO, Patrick Williams of St. Louis, MO, and Wilma Wheat of Topeka, KS; four God-children, Debra Edgerson of Union City, CA, Doris Wright of Jacksonville, FL, Pamela Smith of Malvern, AR, and Elijah Mitchell of Malvern, AR; special friends, Gracie Neal, Georgia Hill, Clara Craig, Annie Helms and Helen Blevins; and a caravan of great nieces, great nephews, numerous cousins, other relatives, and friends. Mrs. Smith will lie in repose at the funeral home on Thursday, June 9th from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. The family will receive friends and share with them Images of Life DVD from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. The family invites friends and extended family members to celebrate with them the home-going of Mrs. Smith at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 10th in the sanctuary of Greater Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where Dr. Lewis A. Shepherd, Jr., is the pastor. Rev. Orlando Freeman the pastor of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Malvern, Arkansas will preach the eulogy. The committal service and final resting place will be at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Arkadelphia, Arkansas.
