It was in the summer on July 14, 1951, in Nevada County, that Lidge and Corine Sockwell Wilson welcomed to their family a handsome baby boy. They named him Karl Douglas Wilson. He was known by his friends and family as “Skeet.”
He was raised in Nevada County and attended McRae High School in Prescott, Arkansas. Skeet gave his life to Christ at a young age. He was a member of St. Paul Baptist Church in Emmett, Arkansas where he served for over twenty years.
He married Paula Ann Dunn and to this union three children were born, Marcus, Brandon and Karla.
On August 1, 1973 he enlisted in the United States Army National Guard and was honorably discharged.
He later relocated back to Prescott and worked as a truck driver for Firestone. He was a good man and a hard worker. He joined the Masonic Lodge and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Everyone who knew Skeet, knew he was a true Pittsburg Steelers fan. He always maintained a humble spirit and mild disposition throughout his life.
In his 59th season of life, on Monday, June 27, 2011 at John McClelland Veterans Hospital in Little Rock Skeet traded time for eternity and was welcomed to his eternal home by his parents, one sister Connie Hendrix, a grandson Rayther Witherspoon and a brother-in-law Charles Martin.
Because love is far greater than death, Skeet departs this earth in body only.
