…I will do all in my power to maintain and elevate the standard of my profession, and will hold in confidence all personal matters committed to my keeping and all family affairs coming to my knowledge in the practice of my calling. With loyalty will I endeavor to aid the physician, in his work, and devote myself to the welfare of those committed to my care. (In part taken from the ”Nightingale Pledge”)
Carole entered the world on December 18, 1973, following with her twin sister, Mary. She was the second of three daughters born to Leotis and Mary L. Gentry Snowden.
She faithfully attended Antoine Church of Christ. She received her spiritual nourishment and inspiration in the church as well as from her parents.
Carole received her elementary and high school education as a student in the Pike County Public school system. She was a 1992 graduate of Delight High School where she excelled as a student and played sports. She grew up to be a loving, kind and intelligent young woman.
She furthered her education by attending Henderson State University and after one semester she enrolled into the University of Arkansas Community College at Hope, where she received an associate degree.
In pursuit of her dream to become a nurse, she enrolled in the UAMS Nursing Program in Little Rock, Arkansas and began her journey.
In 2002 after perseverance, obstacles and determination her dream became a reality. She graduated and earned her Bachelor of Science Nursing Degree. With her registered nurses license she applied and was hired to work full time at Wadley Regional Medical Center in Texarkana, Texas. Carole was a dedicated nurse who gave years of unselfish service at Wadley.
Much of her hard work was motivated to provide all that she could for her girls, Shakira and LaQuasha whom she affectionately called “Sha” and “Moo-Moo”. As they grew, she has continuously expressed her pride in their successful efforts in school and in sports. She was their number one fan.
Coming from a family of all girls, she knew what sisterhood was all about. In 2008, she was pledged into the sisterhood of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority.
Carole was very outgoing and fun. She loved celebrating birthdays and holidays in a big way. She loved to shop, shop, and shop. Believe it or not Carole loved to fish and play spades, but her greatest joy was supporting her daughters at their various sporting events.
Carole has always made the effort to share all of her love and grace with many others she has interacted with. Although Carole’s life would seem too short to many, those who were touched by her understood that the quality of her existence far exceeded the quantity of time many of us spent with her.
In her 37th season of life, on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at Wadley Regional Medical Center in Texarkana, Texas she traded time for eternity and was welcomed to her eternal home by her maternal grandparents, Eddies, Sr., and Gracie Bell Beavers Gentry and her paternal grandfather, Frank McDaniel.
