Our Heavenly Father saw fit to call Janice Gentry home on Thursday, July 7, 2011, at her home in Arkadelphia, Arkansas.
Janice life journey began on August 19, 1950, in Antoine, Arkansas when she was born to the union of Louis and Geneva Jones. Janice attended Delight School district where she graduated. She would later go on to marry Clemon L. Gentry and pursue an education in teaching and home economics; receiving her Bachelor and Masters degree at Henderson State University.
Through her 27 years of teaching, Janice taught at Delight and then Arkadelphia Public School with the interest of special-education. She would later retire but never forgot her love of teaching.
Janice was a faithful member of the Church of Christ. She enjoyed attending the fellowships near and far in order to hear a good singing and worship with her sisters and brothers in Christ.
In her spare time, Janice loved to cook, sew, and spend time with her family. Her sewing would not be forgotten; she touched so many with her talent in sewing and never hesitated to make someone an outfit. Janice never forgot anyone’s birthday and loved to call to send her love and well wishes.
Janice loves her children, especially her grandchildren. She was known as “Nanny” or “Mimi”. She loved to read, sing, and teach them all that she knew.
She leaves her husband Clemon L. Gentry, her father Rev. Louis Jones, two daughters, Kendra Gentry and Karla Gentry and two granddaughters, Haillee Gentry and Kennedy Gentry; three brothers and four sisters; Mose (Martha) Rhymes of Texarkana, TX, Joan Jones of Hot Springs, AR, Edward (Janet) Jones of Delight, AR, Betty Jones of Delight, AR, Darlene (Avance) Williams of Texarkana, TX, Louis F. (Mary) Jones of Murfreesboro, AR, and Lenora Turner of Texarkana, TX and inherited seven brothers through her marriage. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and numerous friends.
Mrs. Gentry will lie in repose in the funeral home on Wednesday, July 13, 2:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. -7:00 p.m.
The service of celebration will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at Delight Church of Christ in Delight, Arkansas with Bro. James Gentry officiating.
The committal service and final resting will be in Harrison Chapel Cemetery.
