James "Dexter" Roscoe, Jr.,56, of Sparkman, died Saturday, September 10, 2011, at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock, Arkansas.
He was born on April 1, 1956, in Hermitage, Arkansas son of James and Clara Meeks Roscoe.
He was a member of Piney Grove AME Church. He attended Peake High School and graduated from Methuselah High School in Shreveport, Louisiana.
He worked as a forklift driver employed for Tommy Gaston Lumber Company.
He was preceded in death by his parents and the love of his life, Alice Austin; two brothers, Johnell and Donnell Roscoe; his maternal and paternal grandparents, two aunts and three
uncles.
He leaves his memories with his son, Dexter Mitchell of Shreveport, Louisiana; two step daughters, Rekina (Dana) Jones and Sherekia (Rhesa) Craig of Arkadelphia; four brothers, Jesse D. (Macy) Weathers and Robert James (Betty) Weathers of Ringgold, Louisiana, James Charles Roscoe of Dallas, Texas, Bobby James (Peggy) Roscoe of Sparkman; five sisters, Erma L. (Bobby) Blevins of Sparkman, Dianne (Aliven) Hampton of Warren; Della Stevens of Lawton, Oklahoma, Shavon (R.J.) Middleton of Arkadelphia, Maybeline Walter of Pittsburg, California; four grandchildren and two aunts Irene of Shreveport, Louisiana and Jean of Brooklyn, New York.
Mr. Roscoe will lie in repose at the funeral home on Friday 2:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
The last farewell and tributes to his life will be shared on Saturday at 12:00 noon at First Baptist Church in Sparkman, Arkansas where Rev. L. A. Craig is the pastor and officiant.
The committal service and final resting place will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery
