On February 28, 1953, James A. and Frances Coleman Stafford welcomed to their family a handsome baby boy. They named him James Harold and was affectionalty called “Pete.”
Pete was raised in the Greenville community. Nurtured in a Christian environment, Pete gave his life to Christ at a young age and united with Ronoke Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. J. P. Story.
He received his early education in the Gurdon School System. He was a 1971 graduate of Gurdon High School where he excelled as a student.
He served his country by joining the United States Army Reserve in 1972. He received the Good Conduct Medal and retired in 1992 after twenty-two years of faithful and dedicated service.
Pete was very talented and worked as a brick mason. He was a great friend who was fun-loving and had a personality that would make anyone laugh.
On Saturday, December 3, 2011, in his 58th season he transitioned from time into eternity.
He was welcomed home by his parents, James A. and Frances Stafford. Those left to cherish his memories are his daughter, Kyndrian Morshea Stafford of Texarkana, TX; two grandchildren, Kirstyn Amari Greene and Treden Amarian Greene both of Texarkana, TX; two brothers, Tommy Stafford and his wife Cheryl of Hot Springs, AR and Carl Stafford and his wife Allison of Baltimore, MD; three sisters, Brenda Sue Berry and her husband John of Bedford Heights, OH, Deborah Stafford of Hot Springs, AR, and Lori Stafford of Arkadelphia, AR; one nephew, William James Stafford of Montgomery, AL; one niece, Ashley Stafford of Hot Springs, AR; two uncles, Carl Don Coleman of Bedford Heights, OH, and Carl Stafford of Texarkana, AR; two aunts, Essie Mae Brown of Oakland, CA and Beatrice Stafford of Little Rock, AR, and a host of relatives, extended family and friends.
A service of remembrance will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 10, 2011 at Mt. Canaan Baptist Church in Gurdon where Rev. Johnny Harris is the Pastor and will deliver the message. The committal service and final resting place will be in Greenville Cemetery.
Public visitation will be on Friday from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
