The path of this life’s journey began in the summer, when Grady and Essie Mae Cummings Dickerson gave birth to Windell Dickerson on June 11, 1940 in Arkadelphia, Arkansas.
Windell was born into a happy and loving family. He accepted Christ at a very young age and joined Clayborn Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church in the Springhill Community.
He possessed a quiet, but friendly sprit. He was very outgoing and never met a stranger.
Windell lived in Pine Bluff for several years and later returned home to Arkadelphia where he was a resident at Courtyard Gardens.
He was called from labor to reward on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at his home in Arkadelphia.
Windell was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters Gladys Luster, Elizabeth Best, Grady Bell Garland, and three brothers Samuel Dickerson, James Dickerson, and Joe Louis Dickerson.
Windell leaves to cherish his memory six sisters Johnnie Mae Hill of Arkadelphia, Eunice Hennings of Batesville, AR, Pearline (Andy) Kennedy of Riverside, CA, Maudie Mae Robinson of Conyers, GA, Ethel Neely of Batesville, AR, Jetherine Hibler of Chicago, IL; three brothers Bobby Dickerson of Arkadelphia, Billy Dickerson of Chicago, Il, and Johnny Dickerson of Joliet, Il; and a host of nieces, nephews, numerous cousins and friends.
Mr. Dickerson will lie in repose in the funeral home on Friday, February 24, 2012 from 2:00 until 7:00 pm. The family will receive friends from 6-7 pm
Home going services will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2012 at 11:00 am at New Generation Baptist Church where Rev. Charles D. Hood is the pastor. Rev. L. A. Bland the pastor of Friendship Baptist Church in Batesville, Arkansas will preach the home going message.
The committal service and final resting place will be at Richmond Hill Cemetery.
