Wanda Jean Moss-Gibson began her life’s journey on December 18, 1955 in Arkadelphia, Arkansas to Willie Davis Moss and the late Tennie Marie Jefferson.
She joined St. Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church at an early age under the leadership of Rev. James H. Thomas, III., and attended Arkadelphia High School.
Wanda married Elmer Lee Gibson. She was the proud mother of two sons that she loved with all her heart. DeWayne and Rodney were the apple of her eye.
Wanda had a care free spirit and was always the life of the party. She enjoyed going to church, spending time with her family, dancing,and cooking.
On Thursday, June 14, 2012, Wanda passed into the Lord’s embrace and was welcomed home by her stepfather Leke and mother Tennie Martin and her grandparents Ruben and Tennie C. Edmondson.
Wanda leaves to cherish her beautiful memories: her father, Willie Davis Moss; two sons, DeWayne Newborn of Chicago and Elmer “Rodney” Gibson of Waco, Texas; two sisters, Judy “Beverly” Hill of Arkadelphia, and Tonja Martin of Dallas; five brothers, Cody Hunter, Eric Martin, William Harris and his wife Lucille of Arkadelphia, Anthony Martin and Lee Andrew Martin and his wife Paulette of Dallas, Texas; two grandsons, Alexander Jr., and JeriMiah Newborn of Chicago, IL; one special sister, Maria Ollison of Bearden, AR; one special brother, Aubrey Hill of Malvern, AR; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Mrs. Gibson will lie in repose at the funeral home on Friday, June 22, 2012 from 2-6 p.m.
A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 23rd at St. Paul AME Church. Presiding Elder James H. Giles, Sr., will serve as the celebrant.
The committal service and final resting place will be at Richmond Hill Cemetery
