Kenneth Lewis Jones

May 9, 1959 — January 22, 2008

Ones life story begins at birth. All chapters following are an ongoing work in progress, revealing the highs and lows in each one’s novel, with each day urging its author on to that climatic “story ending.” The story of Kenneth Lewis Jones began when he was born on May 29, 1959, in Arkadelphia, Arkansas to his parents, Robert C. Jones and Emma Lee Smith. Kenneth accepted Christ at a tender age and attended St. Paul AME Church. “Walk Man”, “Walkie Man” and “Hecka”, as he was affectionately called, was a 1977 graduate of Arkadelphia High School. He was an employee of Petit Jean Poultry, a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Okolona, and a former member of the Black Stones. Kenneth united in holy matrimony to Tammy Green on October 24, 1981, and to this union two sons were born, Kenneth Jones, Jr. and Christopher Jones. After 48 seasons, the final chapter of his life closed on January 22, 2008, at Baptist Health Medical Center in Arkadelphia. Those who awaited his arrival were his parents, and his sister, Misty Nelson. He will forever be remembered in the hearts of his children, Kenneth Jones, Jr., and Christopher Jones of Arkadelphia; their mother, Tammy Green of Arkadelphia; step-father, James “Doug” Nelson of Arkadelphia; seven brothers, Phillip and Marita Wright of Arkadelphia, Anthony Smith of Arkadelphia, Keith and Kristi Nelson of Arkadelphia, Jermaine and Veronica Nelson of Arkadelphia, Jason Nelson of Arkadelphia, Kevin Jones and Greg Jones of Los Angeles, California; three sisters, Jacqueline Renee Hughes and Amanda Y. Nelson of Arkadelphia and Gilda Ussery of Houston, Texas; one aunt Mattie Hatley of Arkadelphia; three uncles, Rev. Raymond & wife Myrtle Smith of Arkadelphia, Bill & wife Mary Smith of Pomona, California, Ephriam & wife Mattie Smith of Pomona, California and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, numerous friends and the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church family. “Hecka” will lie in state at Williams Funeral Home on Friday, January 25, 2008 from 12 noon until 7:00 p.m. The Jones family will greet friends and share with them the Images of Life DVD from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Kenneth, Jr., Chris and their family have planned to celebrate the life of Kenneth L.
