John Wayne Jones

John Wayne Jones was born into this life on September 4, 1962, in Arkadelphia to the union of James Henry and Rose Mary Blacknall Jones. However, he was raised in Dalark. Nurtured in a Christian environment, John gave his life to Christ at a young age. He united with Mt. Olive AME Church. He was a 1981 graduate of Arkadelphia High School. John was a 1981 graduate of Arkadelphia High School. He served his country by joining the United States Army. While in the Army he received several honors, medals and commendations. He was honorably discharged. John was a former employee of Petit Jean Poultry. His hobbies included gardening and growing all types of vegetables. He possessed a fun loving disposition. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. John passed into the Lord’s embrace on Saturday, February 2, 2013, at Baptist Health Medical Center in Arkadelphia with his son and family at his side. He was preceded in death by: his mother, Rose Mary Jones (June 11, 1994); his father, James Henry Jones (January 19, 2011); one brother, Wendell Jones and his niece, Nikita Reed (January 4, 2011). Those left to cherish his memory are: his wife, Ieashia Jones of Arkadelphia; his son, Jahrel Jones of Little Rock, Arkansas; his sisters, Gloria (Bobbie) Perry of Clarksville, TN, Gwen (William) Reed of Arkadelphia, AR and Michelle Jones of Arkadelphia, AR; one brother, Leslie (Wanda) Jones of Arkadelphia, AR and one great uncle, Eddie Quarles of Arkadelphia, AR. He also leaves a cadre of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Public visitation will be Friday, February 8, 2013, from 12 noon until 6:00 p.m. and the family will receive friends from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. A celebration of his life will be held at Mt. Olive AME Church in Dalark, Arkansas on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Linda Butler will officiate. The committal service and final resting place will be in Piney Grove Cemetery.
