Mae Bell Hutchins

February 1, 1927 — March 23, 2008

Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies. She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands. She stretcheth out her hands to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy. She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple. Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her. Mae B. Hutchins (Mae Bell) was born to the union of Mr. & Mrs. Dillard in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on February 1, 1927. She moved to Hot Springs, AR at an early age and united with Eureka Baptist Church. She attended St. Gabriel School and was a graduate of Langston High School. After graduation, Mae Bell moved to Chicago, Illinois. While living in Chicago, Mae Bell met and married Larry Q. Turner. To this union, one loving daughter, Renee Q. Turner was born. Also while in Chicago, Mae Bell attended Beauty College and received her license in Cosmetology. After returning to Hot Springs, she attended Brown Business College and received a degree in Business. She had several different employments in Hot Springs. The Lord soon helped Mae Bell find her true calling at the Hot Springs Rehabilitation Center, as a Residential Advisor and she became lovingly known as “Ma Hutch.” She touched the lives and hearts of many students. After retirement, Mae Bell moved to Morrison, Colorado with her daughter. On Easter Sunday, March 23, 2008, after 81 seasons, at Villa Manor Nursing Home in Denver, Colorado she departed this life and took flight for her eternal home in heaven. Awaiting her arrival were her parents; Mr. & Mrs. Dillard; two aunts, Gertrude Connors and Penelope Everage and her late husband Robert Hutchins. She leaves to cherish her memories and mourn her passing a daughter, Renee Turner Foreman of Morrison, Colorado and one granddaughter Shenita Foreman also of Morrison, Colorado. Several nieces, nephews, and friends. Renee and Shenita have planned a service of thanksgiving honoring the life of Mrs. Mae B. Hutchins on Saturday, March 29, 2008, at 12:00 noon in the sanctuary of Eureka Baptist Church in Hot Springs. Rev. Steve Lake, the pastor will deliver the message of hope and thanksgiving. The Committal Service and final resting place will be at Friendship Cemetery in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Mrs. Hutchins will lie in state in the sanctuary of Eureka Baptist Church from 11:00a.m. until service time.
