Prentiss T. Buckley was born into this life on October 19, 1937, in Prentiss, Mississippi to the union of Major Joe and Caroline Stevenson Buckley.
He was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church in the Griffithtown Community. God’s Word, “….and the two shall become one flesh….” he married Sadie Mae Jones and to this union two children were born Prentiss, Jr and Nicole.
Prentiss was a retired logger having worked for him for several years. Some of his favorite pastimes included hunting, gardening, farming, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends.
He was not a man of many words, but of few words and of many virtues. He was a good man and a hard worker. Prentiss traveled his road of life and dealt with the stormy and sunny days along the way to the best of his ability with integrity and character. We will remember his smile, his love and infectious laugh.
On Saturday, May 18, 2013, he surrendered his soul to the Lord. Awaiting his arrival and to welcome him home are his parents; his wife, Sadie who passed into the Lord’s embrace on January 6, 2012; and one brother, Dorsel Buckley.
Because love is far greater that death Prentiss departs this earth in body only. Those left to celebrate his life and remember his legacy are his four children: Gweneva (Bennie) Jones of Arkadelphia, AR, Bonnie Brown of Gurdon, AR, Prentiss Buckley, JR., of Arkadelphia, AR, and Nicole Buckley of Arkadelphia, AR; eleven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one brother Bouzie Buckley of Arkadelphia, AR; one sister-in-law, Mary Williams of Arkadelphia; two brothers-in-law, Freeman (Vanessa) Jones of Arkadelphia and Ronnie (Sherrie) Brownlee of Dallas, Texas.
Public visitation will beheld om Thursday, May 23, 2013, from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m.
