La’Kavis De’Vonta Crow arrived on October 23, 1978, in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. Better known to family and friends as “Kavis”, he grew up in Arkadelphia surrounded by the love of his parents, Michael Crow and Alfreda Hendrix.
Kavis accepted Christ at a tender age and united with the New Mt Zion Baptist Church family in Gurdon, Arkansas under the pastorate of Rev. Quintin C. Radford.
He attended Peake Elementary, Goza Jr. High and Arkadelphia High School, where he excelled as an athlete. Kavis’ height and endurance allowed him to play the guard position for the AHS basketball team.
In view of a better life for his family and him, they moved to Garland, Texas. He attended Shiloh Baptist Church in Plano, Texas. He worked in the shipping and receiving department for Blockbuster Warehouse.
Believing God’s Word, “….and the two shall become one flesh….“ he and the love of his life Brandy Gillette were married on February 14, 2007. His greatest joy was sharing time with his wife and children.
Kavis was a lover of sports, music and good food. He loved his mother’s chicken alfredo casserole and you could always catch him jamming to the sounds of R Kelly - his favorite song………”Prayer Changes Things.”
In his 29th season, La’ Kavis D. Crow surrendered his soul on June 8, 2008, in Richardson, Texas; and now he is present with the Lord.
Family, as well as friends, will miss his quite strength, smile and love, but will never forget his spirit and compassion. He lived life to the fullest, and there was never a dull moment when Kavis was around.
