Etha Mae Bunn was born into this world on March 3, 1937 in Whelen Springs, Arkansas to the loving parentage of Reggie and Loree Dowell Johnson. She was the second child of nine children born into a home that was filled with love.
She moved to Cotton Valley, Louisiana and finally made her home in Gurdon, Arkansas. She joined Mt. Canaan Baptist Church and was a committed member having served with the kitchen committee.
She met the handsome Darlty Bunn and they were married in 1954. Their union was made complete with the birth of three beautiful daughters.
“Sue Girl” as she was affectionately called was an impeccable housekeeper. She and Darlty made many sacrifices to make their house an inviting and warm home. She loved to talk and never met a stranger. In June of 2006 after 52 years of life, love and laughter Darlty passed into the Lord’s embrace.
The bible teaches man that - Blessed are those who die in the Lord from now on. Yes, says the Spirit they are blessed indeed, for they will rest from their hard work; for their good deeds follow them". Rev 14:13. On Tuesday, January 21, 2014 surrounded by loved ones, she breathed her last breath and surrendered to her Heavenly Father. She was preceded in transition by her parents, one sister, Elizabeth Hunter; four brothers, Reggie Johnson, Jr., Willie T. Johnson, David Charles Johnson and James Dowell.
She leaves to forever remember her legacy: three daughters, Gloria (Joe) Smith of Port Arthur, TX, Desiree Bunn of Texarkana, TX, and Vanshell Bunn of Texarkana, TX; four grandchildren, Michael (Anna) Smith of Little Cypress, TX, Daphne (Spencer) Comeaux and Brittany Smith all of Port Arthur, TX and Keilon Bunn of Texarkana, TX; three great-grandsons, Ahmad Smith of Arkadelphia, AR, Cameron Smith of Hosuton, TX, and Kobe Comeaux of Port Arthur, TX; one brothers, Charles Johnson of Rockford, IL; two sisters, Jo Marie (Daniel) Heidelbery and Carolyn(Derrick) Robinson all of Milwaukee, WI. Sue Girl also leaves several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and countless friends.
Public visitation will be Sunday, Jan. 26th from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
A home going celebration will be shared on Monday, Jan. 27th at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Canaan Baptist Church and Rev. Johnny Harris will officiate. The interment will be at St. Clair Cemetery.
