On June 15, 1965, Jackson Frederick and Lula M. Scott Hunter welcomed the birth of a son they named Jackson Frederick.
Better known to family and friends as “Fred”, he grew up in Arkadelphia surrounded by the love of his parents and older sister Connie. He attended St. Paul AME Church in Arkadelphia and was a graduate of Arkadelphia High School where he played football.
Fred served his country in the United States Army and was a member of the National Guard.
After 43 seasons, Fred surrendered his soul to Christ on June 25, 2008, in Arkadelphia and now he is present with the Lord.
Fred was welcomed to his eternal home by his father, Mr. Hunter.
Those left to forever cherish his memories are: his loving mother, Lula M. Hunter of Arkadelphia, Arkansas; his sister Connie Ellis & her children Shelia Ellis and Steven Ellis all of Arkadelphia, Arkansas; four aunts, Virginia & her husband Rev. Cornelius Hollingshed of Hot Springs, AR, Rosie & her husband Robert Wright of Arkadelphia, AR, Christine Hunter of Arkadelphia, AR, and Millicent & her husband Robert Miller of Erie, PA; one uncle John & his wife Fannie Scott of Arkadelphia, Arkansas; and a caravan of cousins, other relatives, and numerous friends.
Jackson will lie in state at the funeral home on Monday, June 30, 2008, from 11:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.
Graveside tributes will be shared on Tuesday, July 1, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. in Springhill Cemetery. Rev. Cornelius Hollingshed, pastor of Bethel AME Church in Gurdon, Arkansas, will render words of comfort and hope.
The committal service and final resting place will be at Springhill Cemetery.
