Ozella Bernice Lee Leeper was born into this world on March 11, 1927 in Antoine, Arkansas, to the union of Freeman and Exxie Jones Lee. At a tender age she confessed her faith in Christ and was baptized. She was a graduate of Nevada County Boarding School in Rosston, Arkansas and attended beauty school in Little Rock. She was a member of Harrison Chapel Baptist Church.
Ozella married and this union was blessed with two beautiful daughters, Iris and Cozetta. She took her role as mother seriously and made many scarifies to love, nurture and raise her girls. She was a longtime employee of Firestone in Prescott for over 20 years until she retired. She made sure her home was filled with an abundance of laughter and love.
Ozella was an impeccable housekeeper and knew her way around the kitchen. She was a great cook and loved to can foods. Ozella had reputation in the community for having the best barbeque and deer chili. She loved to garden and enjoyed times spent with family and friends. She enjoyed the simple things of life and never met a stranger. Summer time provided more opportunities to enjoy her grandchildren and to fish.
On Sunday, February 2, 2014 she slept into the Lord’s embrace. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Odessie Brown.
She leaves to forever remember her memories; two daughters, Iris Helene Johnson of Sacramento, CA and Cozetta Leeper of Delight, AR: four beloved grandchildren, Dashiki Denise Glenn of Nashville, TN, Kyla Nesha (Jim) Hall of Sacramento, CA, Franziska Alisha Jackson of Nashville, TN, and Billy Ray Johnson, Jr., of Sacramento, CA; three great-grandchildren, Natori Glenn and Oshea Glenn both of Nashville, TN, and Tierra Johnson of Sacramento, CA: a brother-in-law, Sidney Brown of Milwaukee, WI; one nephew, Ronald Wayne (Annie) Brown of Jackson, WI; and one great-nephew, Lamont Brown of Milwaukee, WI. She also leaves other nieces and nephews, relatives, special friends James Pullen, Ollie Richardson, Minnie Sue Hunter, Margaret Burton, Charlene Leeper, Easter Hunter and Ella Mae Jones and special cousins, Dorothy Meeks, Sammie Leeper, Rev. Louis Jones, Lee Ethel Hopkins and Daisy Moore.
Public visitation will be Friday, Feb. 7th from 12 noon - 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A home going celebration will be shared on Saturday, Feb. 8th at 11:00 a.m. at Harrison Chapel Baptist Church and Rev. Rufus Hatley will officiate. The interment will be at Harrison Chapel Cemetery.
