J. D. Brown was born September 20, 1922 to parents of Hannah Dixon and John Henry Brown, Sr. of Holly Grove, Arkansas. He was the first of thirteen children. Preceding him in death were his parents, one son, Henry Brown; his siblings, John Henry, Jr., Howard Brown, Minnie Mae Brown and Richard Brown.
At the age of 17, J. D. married Talethia Brown and to his union he had two sons, Bennie Brown presiding in Patterson, California and Henry Brown. J. D. moved to California in 1940 where he worked as a welder in the shipyard in Richmond, California and as a carpenter in Menlo Park for 36 years.
After the passing of his wife Talethia, he re-married Patricia Brown to union three children were born, Steven Brown, Denise Brown and Danette Brown.
Brother Brown re-dedicated his life to God in December 2010 by being emerged in the name of Jesus Christ. Brother Brown truly loved the Lord and his word. He quietly left this life on April 21, 2014 at Los Banos Memorial Hospital.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife, Patricia Brown, his children, Bennie, Steven, Denise, and Danette, his grandchildren, four sisters, Geola Hart, Hattie Lock, Ruth Rivers and Lillie Mae Brown and four brothers, Freddie Brown, Robert W. Brown, Alfred Brown and Eddie Brown, his nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
A chapel services will be held Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in Williams Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in Holly Grove Cemeteyr in Okolona, Arkansas.
