Henry Clayborn McCauley

God’s child, Henry Clayborn McCauley was born into time on February 1, 1941, in Arkadelphia to the blessed union of Bro. Jessie & Sis. Addie Sue Wilson McCauley. During his early childhood, he gave his life to Christ and joined Mt. Morriah Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Joseph Samuel Newburn. Henry was ordained as a deacon under the pastorate of Rev. C. W. Harris. At Mt. Morriah, he served as Chairman of the Deacon Board. Henry was a prolific bible scholar and orator. He was a member of the Brotherhood, Senior Choir, Male Chorus and was a Bible teacher in the Brandy Ferrell Vacation Bible School. Henry graduated from Mt. Morriah Rural School and was a 1958 graduate of Peake High School. He went on to earn his Bachelor of Science degree University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. He also graduated from Fisk University of Tennessee and Southern Arkansas University, Magnolia and did further studies at Henderson State University and Ouachita Baptist University. He was an educator in the public school system in Mineral Springs, Gould, Sparkman and Camden. Not only was he active in his professional career, he was also dedicated to his church and fraternal organization. He was member of Excelsior Lodge #13 where he served as Worthy Patron and was a 32nd degree Mason Prince Hall Affiliated. Trusting in God’s word “Be thou faithful until death and I will give thee a crown of life.” in his 67th season, Deacon McCauley answered the call that no man can refuse. He was born into eternity on Tuesday, August 5,2008, at St. Joseph’s Mercy Health Center in Hot Springs, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his father and a great nephew, Ethan Boyer. His life and legacy will be forever cherished by a daughter, Keisha McCauley of Camden; his son Victor McCauley of Chicago, Il; his loving mother, Addie Sue McCauley of Arkadelphia; two handsome brothers, Jesse Franklin & his wife Virginia McCauley of Carson, California, Robert Earl & his wife Asenatha McCauley of Hot Springs; a beautiful sister Inez McCauley Brown of Flint, Michigan; five darling grandchildren Desomnd, Kamyia, Mesha, Kashad and Ja’qualine; a special friend, Nadine Walton of Fordyce; nieces, Yolonda McCauley McCollum, Candis McCauley Smith, Iris McCauley Clegg, Theone McCauley Porter; nephews, Keith McCauley and Avery McCauley; cousins and a special cousin Thomas Newburn, other relatives, numerous friends, classmates, as well as, the Mt. Morriah Baptist Church family. “Behold, I tell you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall be changed - in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye………” I Corinthians 15:51-52 Deacon McCauley will lie in state at Williams Funeral Home on Friday, August 8, 2008, from 11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. The McCauley family will greet friends and share with them the Images of Life DVD from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Mt. Morriah Baptist Church. A Service of Triumph & Thanksgiving will be shared at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 9, 2008, in the sanctuary of Greater Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where Dr. Lewis A. Shepherd, Jr., is pastor. The Word of God will be delivered by Rev. Vernon Moody, Sr., the pastor of Mt. Morriah Baptist Church. The committal service & earthly resting place will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in the Joan Community. Bearers of the casket will be Yolonda McCauley McCollum, Candis McCauley Smith, Iris McCauley Clegg, Theone McCauley Porter, Keith McCauley and Avery McCauley. Honorary bearers will be Deacon Edward Newburn, Deacon Haja Newburn, Deacon J.V. Newburn, Deacon Roosevelt Thomas, Deacon Blake A. Wilson and the Mt. Morriah Missionary Society.
