God’s child, Johnnie Mae Dixon, was born into time on January 13, 1920, in Okolona, Arkansas to the blessed union of Charlie & Janie Jones Dixon.
During her early childhood, she gave her life to Christ and joined First Baptist Church.
Johnnie Mae attended the Okolona Colored School and in search of a better life Johnnie Mae packed up and headed west for California. While there in California she met L. K. Williams and they were married on November 23, 1963.
Trusting in God’s word, “Be thou faithful until death and I will give thee a crown of life,” in her 88th season, Johnnie Mae answered the call that no man can refuse. She was born into eternity on Tuesday, September 11, 2008, at Baptist Health Medical Center in Arkadelphia, Arkansas.
Those awaiting her arrival and to welcome her to eternal home were: her husband L. K. Williams who passed into the Lord’s embrace in 1989; her parents, four brothers; Gus Dixon, Charlie Dixon, Horace Dixon, Bob Dixon; three sisters, Claudine Brooks, Geneva McDaniel, and Celestine Dixon.
Her life and legacy will be forever cherished by: her step-children, Sylvia Raibon of Cincinnati, OH; James & his wife Claudia Williams of Oakland, CA; and Lewis Ray Williams of Fairfield, CA; two god-daughters: Joanna Whitney of New York; and Camelia & her husband Stephen Baker of Oakland, CA; one brother, Samuel & his wife Beatrice Dixon of Berkley, CA: a sister-in-law, Flossie Dixon of Arkadelphia, AR; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, numerous friends and the Pleasant Grove Church family.
Johnnie Mae’s special relative & friends include: Paul Brooks, Shirley McDaniel, Mattie Lois Furlow, Barbara Stuart, Mae Zola Thomas, Ollie Faye Richardson, Elnora Leeper, Evelyn Wooten, Yvette Lacy, Sandra Henderson, Stacey Luster, Charlene Tolliver, Willie Smith, Mae Sue Williams, Tressie Leeper, and James Smith.
Mrs. Williams will lie in state at Williams Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 16, 2008, from 11:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.
The Dixon & Williams families will greet friends and share with them the Images of Life DVD from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
A Service of Triumph & Thanksgiving will be shared at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 18, 2008, in the sanctuary of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, the Meeks Settlement in Okolona, Arkansas.
The Word of God will be delivered by Rev. Rufus Hatley, pastor of Pleasant Grove & Harrison Chapel Baptist Churches.
The committal service & earthly resting place will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
Bearers of the casket will be Johnny Dixon, William Gilyard, Greg McDaniel, Henry McDaniel, and Bobby W. Dixon. Honorary bearers will be Deacons of Pleasant Grove and Harrison Chapel Baptist Churches.
