The sweet and loving spirit of Bonnie Ruth Ross peacefully returned unto the Lord on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at the Arkansas Hospice Center in Little Rock, Arkansas. She fought a good fight and won; because the bible teaches us in Philippians 1:21 that Christ means everything to me in this life, and when I die I'll have even more.
Bonnie was born on March 30, 1946, in Rosston, Arkansas. Her parents Herman, Sr., and Birdie Lee Joe Quarles taught their children the value of hard work, self respect and respect of others. She accepted Christ at a young age and united with Eastern Star Baptist Church. On October 5, 1970 she married Johnny Ross and to this union eight children were born. Although their marriage would end they remained ever present in the lives of their children. They rekindled an old flame of love and remarried on November 26, 2001.
She worked for over 20 years at Firestone in Prescott. Bonnie was a gentle, supportive and caring lady who hardly ever met a stranger. She had “tell it; like it is” outlook on life and used a tender heart in many situations.
Bonnie’s spirit will linger on in the hearts of her husband, Johnny Ross; her children, David Ross, Kenneth (Lisa Horton) Ross, Charles Ross, Alfonso Ross, Anthony Ross, Tony Ross, Ricky Ross and Jessica Robertson; her sisters, Lula Carroll, Mildred Anderson, and Annie Mae Phifer; her brothers, Herman Quarles, Jr. Lonnie Quarles, Johnny L. Quarles, and Lee Andrew Quarles; seventeen grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; an uncle, Alvin (Nadine) Quarles; an aunt Essie Harper and a great host of nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends. She was preceded in her passing by her parents, one of her brothers, Ray Quarles and one sister, Louisa Young.
Public visitation will begin Friday, October 3, 2014 from 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at Eastern Star Baptist Church. Rev. Marshall Allen is the Pastor and Rev. Rufus R. Hatley, eulogist. Interment will be in Rose Hedge Cemetery.
