Mable H. Ransom was born on August 3, 1919, to the union of Eddie and Edna Norton Hendrix. She was born and raised in Okolona, a small yet friendly city; where everybody knew everybody.
At a young age she was baptized and united with First Baptist Church in Okolona. She grew up to be an independent and strong young lady. Mable traveled having made her home in St. Louis and finally Little Rock, Arkansas. She was a member of New Rock Hill Baptist Church where she served on the mother’s board. She was a retired employee of the Little Rock School District.
Mable loved to sew, quilt and read. Her greatest joy was spending time with children. If it involved children, you could always count on her support and love. She was a believer in “treating others, as you would have them to treat you”. Due to her failing health she moved to Sandalwood where she captivated the hearts of the staff and administration. Her sweet, loving nature made her easy to love. She always welcomed visits from her family and friends with a smile. Her life was simple, but not empty. To know her was to love her.
On August 3, 2014, she celebrated her 95th birthday surrounded by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren other family members and friends. Mable passed into the Lord’s embrace on Monday, January 12, 2015 with her family by her side.
Mable was preceded in death by her husband Elmer Ransom. She leaves an abundance of love and memories with her son; Anthony Patrick, Sr., of Little Rock, AR; five grandchildren Anthony (Lashonda) Patrick, Jr., of Mabelvale, AR, Keith (Aeyshia) Patrick, Sr., of Little Rock, AR, Antwaine (Shameka) Patrick of Little Rock, AR, Michael Hamilton of Little Rock, AR, and Ellis Jackson of Little Rock, AR; 11 great- grandchildren; sisters, Debra Hendrix of Tacoma, WA, Bertha J. Hendrix of Springfield, MO, and Willie B. Swink of Okolona, AR; a brother, James Hendrix of Las Vegas, NV; a host of other relatives, the Sandalwood family and countless friends.
Public visitation will be Friday, January 16, 2015 from 1-4 pm. Service will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at Williams Funeral Home with Rev. James H. Giles, Sr., presiding.
