The sun rose for Laura Ann Johnson on December 10, 1960 in Hot Springs, Arkansas when she was born to Tommie “Jake” and Daisy Mae Caldwell Johnson.
She was a 1979 graduate of the Arkansas School for the Blind in Little Rock, Arkansas and was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness her entire life.
Laura was known for her lovely sense of humor and her positive attitude despite her disability of blindness.
In spite of her blindness, Laura persevered and worked as a sorter for the Goodwill Industries. She was a rare and colorful character, a true-one of a kind person who’s passing will long be felt, but whose memory will forever be remembered.
The sun set for Laura in her 47th season on Wednesday, November 19, 2008, at Baptist Health Medical Center in Arkadelphia, Arkansas.
She was welcomed home by her father, Tommie “Jake” Johnson and those left to forever cherish her memories are: her mother, Daisy Mae Johnson of Arkadelphia, AR; one sister Dorothy & her husband Johnny Banks of Arkadelphia; three brothers, Raymond Lee Caldwell of Little Rock, AR, Johnny Johnson of Warner Robbins, GA, and Tommie J. Johnson of Little Rock, AR; her best friend Mary Johnson of Little Rock, AR, a special friend Anthony Jackson of Little Rock, AR, and a caravan of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and numerous friends.
Ms. Johnson will lie in state at the funeral home on Monday, November 24, 2008, from 12:00 noon until 7:00 p.m.
A Service of Celebration & Thanksgiving for the life of Ms. Laura Ann Johnson will be held on Tuesday, November 25, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness in Caddo Valley.
The committal service and final resting place will be at Helms Cemetery.
The bearers of the casket will be William Keeling, Jack Keeling, Jr., Stevie Joe Parker, Steven Ray Tyson, Joe Lightfoot, Mike Burrough, Aaron McCray, Dustin Dennis and Odell Lawson.
The honorary bearers of the casket will be her brothers and nephews.
