The sun rose for Juanita Hawthrone on August 19, 1930, in Gurdon, Arkansas, when she was born to Ollie and Sally Corbin Hawhtrone, along with her twin sister, Burnita.
She accepted Christ at a young age uniting with Mt. Canaan Baptist Church in Gurdon, Arkansas.
Later she moved to Galveston, Texas where she met and married Elijah Williams and to this union three chidlren were born.
The sun set for Juanita in her 78th season on Monday, December 8, 2008, in Baptist Health Medical Center in Arkadelphia, Arkansas.
She was welcomed to her heavenly home by her husband, parents; one son, Wayne Williams; four of her sisters, Lucille Hawthrone Cunningham, Bernice Hawthrone, Annie Hawthrone Ellis, Wilma Hawthrone Brown, and two of her brothers, James Hawthrone and Leon Hawthrone.
Juanita leaves her memories with her son Larry Williams, Sr. and her daughter, Louise Pickney both of Galveston, Texas; two brothers, George Hawthrone of Gurdon, Arkansas and David & his wife Ruth Hawthrone of Arkadelphia, Arkansas; two sisters, Naomia Samuels of Joliet, Illinois, and her twin sister, Burnita Hawthrone of Arkadelphia, Arkansas; thirteen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.
A Service of Celebration & Thanksgiving for the life of Juanita Williams will be held on Saturday, December 13th at 11:00 a.m. in the sanctuary of Mt. Canaan Baptist Church, 410 South 5th Street, Gurdon, Arkansas, where Rev. Johnny Harris is the pastor and Rev. Rufus R. Hatley will give the message of hope.
The committal service and final resting place will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Galveston, Texas.
The bearers of the casket are Nehemiah Hardiman, Billy Lockhart, Henry Marks, Julian Marks, T. S. Ollison, Herman Quarles and Connie Williams.
