Joe Charles Stephens

Joe Charles Stephens passed into the Lord’s embrace on Sunday, April 26, 2015 at Heartland Fostrian in Flushing, MI, after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born September 18, 1945 to Delia Mae Zachary Stephens and Joe Manning Stephens in Arkadelphia. Joe was a standout in sports while attending high school. He is a 1963 graduate of Peake High School and attended A M & N College now known as UAPB on a football scholarship. Joe enjoyed a lengthy time of playing adult baseball and he loved all sports. He was preceded in his passing by his parents and his son, Stanley Wayne Stephens (2008). He leaves to mourn his passing: two daughters, Kasey (William) Summerville of Arkadelphia and Angela Hill of Flint, Michigan; seven grandchildren, Jasmine (Lee) Wilson, Stanley Wayne Stephens, Jade Summerville, Cydney Stephens Woodson, Dwayne Hill, Jansen Summerville and Darrin Hill; three great grandchildren, Sean Wilson, Alayna Wilson and Kylee Wilson, and he also leaves his life partner of 25 years, Betty Minor; god sisters, Dr. Patricia Wight and Ms. Inez Brown. Funeral services were held for Mr. Stephens at 11:00 am Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at Serenity Funeral Chapel in Flint, MI with Apostle Ruby Johnson officiating. Committal service will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in Craven Cemetery in Prescott, AR with Rev. T. W. Scott presiding. The family will receive friends on Friday, May 1, 2015, 6 – 7pm at St. Paul AME Church, 1501 Caddo Street, Arkadelphia, AR 71923 In lieu of flowers the family request that donations are made in memory of Joe Charles Stephens to the Peake Alumni Foundation Incorporated| P O Box 1105| Arkadelphia, AR 71923.
