Rickey Dwayne “Spook” Laster, passed Saturday, August 1, 2015 at his home in Gurdon, Arkansas. He was born June 6, 1956 in Camden, the son of Opal Jean Laster and Raymond Hopson. He attended Rawlins High School in Cleveland, Ohio. The family later moved to Gurdon, Arkansas.
Rickey was a member of the Gurdon Family Worship Center. Being disabled and not able to work, Rickey spent hours mastering Chess. He was an avid chess player and was always ready for a good game. He was a lover of sports; his favorite teams were the Miami Heat the New Orleans Saints. To know him was to love him. He was often referred to as “Spook” by his family and close friends. There was never a dull moment when he was around. He will be missed by many. He was preceded in his passing by his father and a son, Rodney Calhoun (2014).
He leaves his memories to his wife, Robin Laster of Cleveland, OH; his children, Ricardo Laster and Raymond Calhoun, both of Cleveland, Ohio; his mother, Opal Jean Laster of Gurdon; two sisters, Ramona Laster (Julian Marks) and Donna Laster (Randy Bell), both of Gurdon and one brother, Mark Laster (Deborah Ann Powell) of Maui, HI; five grandchildren; his aunts, Dorothy Smith of Dallas, TX, Luretta (Mr. T) Richardson of Chicago, IL, Elsie McElroy of Los Angeles, CA and Charlotte Williams of Cleveland OH. He also leaves his special friend, Dolores Bugg of Akron, OH and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends at the funeral on Friday, August 7, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
