Mattie Bell Butler - Turner

On August 13, 2015, Mattie Bell (Butler) Turner, was called home to heavenly rest. She was born on February 1, 1944, in Sparkman, Arkansas to the late Robert Oliver Butler and late Allie Lee (Bailey) Butler. She was proceeded in death by her parents, a brother Eunice Butler and her husband Benjamin Franklin Turner. She was a devoted mother, sister, aunt, cousin, friend and servant of the Lord. At an early age she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at Center Point AME. After relocating to New York she joined St. Matthews AME Church in Bronx, New York. Mattie received her formal education in the Sparkman Training school in Dallas Country Arkansas at an early age and was later educated at Theodore Roosevelt High School in Bronx, New York. She returned to Sparkman, Arkansas and walked with the graduating class of 1962, in the Sparkman Training school. She was recognized for exceptional scholar abilities in shorthand, typing and was the Valedictorian of her class. She often mention her love of biology. She retired from the White Plains Nursing after 24 years of excellent service in Bronx, New York. She enjoyed her daily activities, interactions within community where she never met a stranger. She leaves to cherish her two loving daughters Diane L. St Julien (Jeffery) of Stafford, VA and Elaine Turner of Atlanta GA; one step-son Benjamin Franklin Turner, Jr. of Stockton, CA; six grand-daughters, Allie Octavia Turner and Trevaughna Brown (Daniel) of Bronx, NY. Jadyne St Julien, Tiffany St Julien, Kaori St Julien and Kamori St Julien of Stafford VA; five grandsons Anthony Henry of Bronx, NY, Keion Wallis of Houma, LA, Jeffery L. St Julien, Geoffery James St Julien and Kaden St Julien of Stafford VA; two great granddaughters, Beyoncé and Octavia Mattie Henry of Bronx, NY; one sister Pinkie Freeman of Orlando, FL and one brother, Louis T Butler of Little Rock, Arkansas; one brother-in-law, Earlee Turner, (Aileen Turner ) of Fordyce, Arkansas and one sister-in-law, Violet (Turner) Brazil, (Rev. Joe Brazil) of Risen, Arkansas; one uncle, James Bailey of Oakland CA and host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Submitted the Turner Family. A celebration of her life will be held at 11 am Saturday, August 29, 2015 at Center Point AME Church in Sparkman, Arkansas with Missionary Bobbi Jean Lambert, officiating. Interment will be in Center Point Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, August 28, 2015 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.
