Darlene Hughes was born on February 15, 1952 in Rosston, Arkansas. She was the daughter of James Anderson and Gennie V. Beasley Cunningham. She accepted Christ at a young age. She attended Oak Grove High School and later graduated from Simmons High School in Okolona, Arkansas. Darlene married Edmond Riley Hughes who preceded her in death. She was known as a “common woman”, who lived life to the fullest. Although small in stature, she possessed a big heart. She was mild tempered and quiet, but when she did speak everyone listened. Her gentle demeanor made her easily approachable and family, as well as, friends was drawn to her sweet spirit. To know her was to love her. After a long and courageous battle with her health she passed into the Lord’s embrace on Monday, November 16, 2015. She will be missed by many, but never forgotten. Darlene was preceded in death by her father James Anderson and her mother, Gennie V. Cunningham (2011); her daughter, Veronica Crow (2012); nephews Katlin Lidge (2011), and great-nephew Kynan Barrett (2011). She leaves to celebrate and honor her life’s journey: her children, Michael D. Hughes of Arkadelphia and Latoya Britton (Deotis Dickens) of Gurdon, AR; six grandchildren; sisters, Alice Wilson of Gurdon, AR, Shirley Franklin (Roy) of Arkadelphia, AR and Shelia Tidwell (Calvin Bullock ) of Delight, AR. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, special friend Sarah McDaniel of Prescott, AR; and other friends. A celebration of her life will be held at St. Clair Baptist Church on Saturday, November 21, 12015 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Rufus Hatley, officiating. Interment will be in McKinney Cemetery in Willisville, Arkansas. Visitation will be Friday, November 20, 2015 from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
