Life for this sweet Spirit began June 7, 1927 when she was born to Reddie and Inez Mitchell Deloatch in Conway, North Carolina. She accepted Christ as a young lady and was a member of Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church.
Inez was an employee of Georgia Pacific in Murfreesboro, North Carolina and worked as a cook and an attendant for Adult Daycare services. She was a dedicated worker and enjoyed cooking. Inez met the handsome; Haywood Majette and they were married on January 6, 1949 in Emporia, Virginia. To this union one daughter, Magdeline was born.
Inez loved Allen Chapel and served in several capacities including; stewardess, choir member, and on the pastors aide committee, just to name a few. She was a dedicated member who received several awards for her devoted and invaluable services. She was a recipient of the “Three Score and Ten Honoree” Award and The Pattie L. Edwards Area Certificate of Mission. Her life reflected the scripture Proverbs 31:30, 31 – A woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Give her the reward she has earned, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.
Inez aged gracefully and as her health began to decline she moved to Arkadelphia in 2007 to be close to her daughter and family. She enjoyed dressing, sewing and never lost her zeal for cooking. Cats and birds had a special place in her heart. She would sit for hours on the back porch feeding the birds and cats. Inez often used her personal “flip cell phone” to keep her connected with family and friends back in North Carolina. She never lost touch with those bonds and relationships. Her sweet spirit will be forever missed but never forgotten.
She was preceded in transition by her parents, her husband, Haywood Majette; six brothers, Wilbert Deloatch, Rice Deloatch, Wilson Deloatch, Melton Deloatch, James Deloatch and Worth Deloatch; and two sisters, Willie Mae Peebles and Ella Ree Cumbo. She passed peacefully into the Lord’s embrace on Friday, July 1, 2016.
She leaves to cherish her memory: one daughter, Magdeline Majette Helms (George) of Arkadelphia; her grandchildren, Shelia Helms Adams (Thomas), Cecelia Helms, Marcus Helms and Jeffery Helms all of Arkadelphia; one great-grandson, Lamar Helms of Arkadelphia and unborn, Aaron Helms; sisters, Cora Lee Parks of Philadelphia, PA and Eula Everette (Howard) of Conway, NC; and a sister-in-law, Helen Deloatch of Conway, NC. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church in Jackson, North Carolina. Interment will be in the Majette Family Cemetery in Conway, North Carolina.
