The quiet and gentle natured life of Eddie Lee Quarles, Jr., came to a close on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at his home in Millcreek. He was born on November 6, 1932, in Dalark, Arkansas to the union of Eddie Lee Quarles, Jr., and Florence Alexander Quarles. During his early childhood he accepted Christ and united with the Mt. Olive A.M.E. Church family. Close friends and his family called him “Skippy”. He loved to garden and enjoyed being with family. Skippy was a hard worker and worked as in independent logger for years until he retired. His life a simple life, but he enjoyed every day just being “Skippy”. Because love is far greater than death, he departs this earth in body only. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Quarles; a step-son, Felix White (2002); brothers, John Quarles and Ralph Quarles; sisters, Alberta Johnson, Nellie Joiner, Selma Murdock, Gertrude Carter, Mattie Francis Browning, Earline Allen and Bennie Jean Quarles(2011). He leaves indelible impressions in the hearts and minds of his wife, Shevie Quarles; two children, Sharon L. Meeks (Dwayne) of Mabelvale, AR and Katherine Delamar (Clifford) of Malvern, AR; a special nephew who was raised like a brother, Lynn Jackson (Margarine) of Arkadelphia; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and countless friends. Public visitation will be Thursday, August 4, 2016 from 12 noon until 6:00 p.m. A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, August 5, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Olive AM.E Church where Presiding Elder Randolph Martin, will officiate. Interment will be in Piney Grove Cemetery, Arkadelphia.
