Jearlene Gulley

November 15, 1955 — August 28, 2016

Jearlene Holmes Gulley was born in Parkdale, Arkansas on November 15, 1955 to the union of John and Cora Bell Robinson Holmes. As a young girl she accepted Christ. She was a faithful member of Union Grove Baptist Church in Bluff City where she served on the pastor’s aide committee. Jearlene grew up to be a beautiful and charming young lady. She met the love of her life Cullen Ray Gulley. Their courtship led to a loving and enduring marriage that began on May 9, 1998. Although this union produced no children; they were blessed with a blended family of 9 children. She loved her husband passionately and was a devoted mother. Her children were such an important part of her life and they brought her so much joy. She played an important role in encouraging them in reaching their goals and objectives. Her son, Eric Lockhart passed on June 16, 2006. Though heartbroken, she relied on her faith in God to sustain her as she committed to never forget his memory. Jearlene worked as a hostess for several years in Camden and was a homemaker. She used gardening and planting flowers as a time to reflect and talk to the Lord. When her front yard was in full bloom it was a beautiful addition to the Chidester community. She often listened to gospel music and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, family and friends. On Sunday, August 28, 2016 she passed into the Lord's embrace. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Stacy Holmes and Billy Holmes. Though she is no longer with us in body and her irreplaceable presence will be deeply missed. Her memory will live on in the hearts and minds of her husband, Cullen Ray Gulley of Chidester, AR; her children, Richard Lockhart of Fordyce, AR, Olivia Lockhart (Kenneth Belin) of Camden, AR and Faith Lockhart of Camden, AR; her step-children, Stephanie Gulley Moore of Gurdon, AR, Tara (Stanley) McClelland of Gurdon, AR, Cullen Ray Gulley, Jr., of Gurdon, AR, Joycelyn Gulley of Camden, AR and Dexter Sims of Hot Springs, AR; 16 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; 7 sisters, Jean (Herbert) Dumas of Camden, AR, Cora Gulley of Camden, AR, Aquilla Morris of Little Rock, AR, Sarah Bell of Little Rock, AR, Vanessa Parker of Little Rock, AR, Johnnie Webb of Little Rock, AR and Benfadine (Andrew) Gasson of St. Petersburg, FL. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; her best friend, Sandra Goodwin of Camden, AR and other friends. Visitation will be Thursday, September 1, 2016 from 12 noon until 5:00 p.m. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 2, 2016 at Union Grove Baptist Church in Bluff City, Arkansas with Rev.
