Ruth Macon Craig was born on November 30, 1938, in Arkadelphia, Arkansas to the union of Davis and Florine Hogan Macon. As a little girl she joined Piney Grove A.M.E. Church and attended Peake High School. She married Harvest Craig and the Lord added to their union seven children. Being the mother of seven she knew her way around the kitchen. She was an impeccable housekeeper and mastered babysitting. She was a protective mother and loving grandmother. Ruth was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. She never met a stranger and always welcomed others into her home. She loved to talk and would send countless hours on the telephone talking. Her greatest joy was being surrounded by the love and laughter of her family. Being the matriarch of her family she often was sought for wisdom and sound advice. On Saturday, November 5, 2016 she passed quietly into the Lord’s embrace. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Harvest Craig (December 28, 1999); her children, Harvest Louis Craig (1988), Joyce J. Wright (2004) and Lilly R. Box (2015). She leaves four children; Terry Craig, Larry Craig, Rosalind (Joseph) Hall and Edward Craig all of Sparkman and Cicely (Rodney) Parham of Bearden, whom she raised and cherished as a daughter; eleven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Milly McClanahan of Philadelphia and one brother, A. C. Macon of Foreman, Arkansas. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, her best friend Eva Craig of Little Rock and several other friends.
