Samuel David "Jack" Snowden

May 22, 1938 — January 11, 2017

Mr. Samuel David Snowden Jr. was born May 22, 1938. Mr. Samuel Snowden was the son of the late Jett Snowden and Gertrude Snowden of Delight, Arkansas. Mr. Samuel Snowden was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church, in Piney Grove, Arkansas.   He met and married Ozella Piggee Snowden; to this union five children: Samuel Dewayne Snowden, of Delight, AR, Jacqueloyn (Gregory) McDaniel, of Arkadelphia, AR, Eddie Lee (Amanda) Gentry of Okalona, AR, Michael (Brandy) Snowden of Hope, AR, Angela (Jeffery) Newton of Delight, AR, Steven Snowden who preceded him in death. (Adopted) Margie Snowden and (Raised) Dorothy Jean Turner.   He leaves to cherish his memory, ten siblings Dorothy (Marvin) Meeks, Rose (Bill) Oliver, Cota (Marie) Snowden, Ethal Snowden, John (Donna) Snowden, James (Margie) Snowden, Lawrence Snowden, Sandra Snowden, Alfrita (Eddie) Brown, Roy (Monica) Snowden. Three siblings who preceded him in death: Olivia (James) Myers, Evelyn Fricks, Leonard (Jan) Snowden. He leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.   Samuel “Jack” Snowden; known as a hero to some; a legend to many! He was a very hard worker, who worked from sun up to sun down. At the age of fourteen “Jack” began working in the log wood. He also worked in pulp wood, and fire wood, as long as his health would allow. He was a mechanic and a true, “jack of all trades.” He created, designed and built his own tractor and his own wood splitter. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and raising hogs. He always kept a yard full of family and friends. He was a valued individual who loved engaging and interacting with people. Helping anyone who needed him, was not an obligation, but a calling, a passion; that never required a second thought.   There was nothing “Jack” couldn’t accomplish. He was a man that left his family and friends with uncountable and unmeasurable memories.   We will miss him dearly, but we know, he’s in his new home, not made by the hands of man. Submitted by the Snowden Family.   Public visitation will be Friday, January 20, 2017 from 12 noon until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
