Josephine Rachel Scoggins was born on July 2, 1928 in Arkadelphia, Arkansas.Josephine accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at St. Paul A.M.E. Church in Arkadelphia.She graduated from Peake High School in Arkadelphia in 1948 and went to obtain a Bachelor’s degree in Education from Alabama State College-Montgomery in 1953. She received a Master degree in Elementary Education from the University of Arkansas-Fayetteville in 1958 and taught elementary school for 34 years, 6 in Newton, MS and twenty-eight in Gary, Indiana.Josephine passed on Sunday, February 12, 2017 in Eatontown, New Jersey. She is predeceased by her parents, Joe and Cincilla Cranford; husband, Alger Scoggins; sister, Geneva Jones and brothers, Cornelius Jones, Joe Cranford, Jr., and Freddie Lee Cranford. She leaves to cherish her memories a sister, Fannie B. (Robert, Jr.) Lee of Arkadelphia, AR; three brothers, Eddie (Lelia) Cranford of Neptune, NJ, Bobby J. Cranford of Fairfield, CA and Leous Cranford of San Francisco, CA; nieces and nephews, Barbara Bernard, Valerie Lee, Belinda Cranford, Beverly Clay, Yvonna Cranford, Joe Lee, Robert Lee, III., Walter (Kelly) Cranford and Warner (Elvia) Jones. Graveside services were held at White Ridge Cemetery in Eatontown, New Jersey on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. Services provided by Ely Funeral Home and Williams Funeral Home.
