The Scroll of Life HIS DEPARTURE Silent as sunlight, Arthur Wayne Jones slipped into God’s blessed eternity to make his home with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at 2:41 a.m. on Thursday, May 11, 2017. He left his earthly home in the presence of family and staff at Detroit Receiving Hospital. The Spirit of the Lord dominated the room during his peaceful, sweet departure. As he walked through the valley of the shadow of death, the voice of the Chaplain decreased and the Master’s voice increased. He was called from labor to reward. HIS EARTHLY REIGN Arthur Jones was born on July 15, 1950 to the union of the late Zneobia and Booker T. Jones, Sr., in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. He was born the seventh child of eleven children. Arthur made Jesus Christ his Lord and Savior at an early age and joined the Piney Grove A.M.E. Church in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. He attended Piney Grove Elementary School and Peake High School. He met and united in holy matrimony to Ms. Rosemary Defroe from Malvern, Arkansas. To this union were born three children, Shawana, Anthony and Kenneth. In the early 1970s, he moved to Detroit, Michigan, where he pursued a career with the Chrysler Corporation and worked for 30 years. Arthur loved and expressed his love and caring for each of his children in his own special way. He was a loving and caring grandfather in rearing the love of his life his granddaughter, Amoya. He loved and lived life his way. He was called the “Wild Man.” He was a fun loving person and was always the life of the party. He loved laughter, having fun, hanging out with his best buddies. He was preceded in death by both parents; one sister, Joyce Jones and two brothers, Freddie Jones and Charles Jones. He leaves to treasure and cherish his memories: his two daughters, Shawana Garrett of Rockford, IL, Erica Maupin of Lansing, MI and four sons, Kenneth Jones (Telisha) of Carson, CA, Anthony Jones of Benton, AR, Timothy Jones of Wichita, KS, Eric Jones of Lansing, MI; three sisters, Rosetta Jones of Detroit, MI, Janice Walker (Steve) of Jacksonville, AR, Doretta Peterson of Arkadelphia, AR; six brothers, Cleveland Jones (Jo Ann), Leroy Jones of Detroit, MI, Booker Jones, Jr., of Little Rock, AR, Johnny Jones of Arkadelphia, AR, James Archie of Aurora, CO, Jerry Hogan of Lonoke, AR; ten grandchildren and a very special granddaughter he was rearing, Amoya Jones of Detroit, MI; one great-grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, special friends and admirers and a very close and special friend, Mr. Clifton “Pee Wee” Johnson.
