Melvin McPeak

September 12, 1953 — June 12, 2017

On September 12, 1953, Willie and Aletha Phifer McPeak welcomed the birth of a son the named Melvin. He accepted Christ at a young age and united with Philadelphia AME Church in the Piney Ridge Community. Melvin was a 1971 graduate of Gurdon High School. He married Cathy in 1982 and to this union two children were born, Natasha and Kelvin. He later married Jacqueline Norvell in 2010 and the Lord added to their blended family that would include three more children; Kevin, Kaleda and Kedre’us. Melvin possessed a strong work ethic. He worked several jobs in his lifetime from construction, Union Pacific Railroad and lastly Georgia Pacific. He was a man of ambition and was the operator of McPEak Lawn Care. He united with Kingdom Authority Christian Ministries under the leadership of Rev. Quintin Radford and served faithfully as an Usher. He truly loved his church and his pastor. Like most guys he enjoyed fishing, basketball and football. He was a car show fanatic and would spend countless hours watching cars shows on tv. He enjoyed gardening and was an avid sword and knife collector. Melvin was a friend to all and never met a stranger. On Monday, June 12, 2017, Melvin traded time for eternity and departed from this life. Although he is no longer here in body, his memory will live on forever. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Bertha Rene Meekins; a grandson, Adrian M. Fulks and his son, Kedre’us D. Norvell who made his transition May 29, 2017.
