The Life of Leo HendrixLeo was born on March 11, 1964, in Arkadelphia, Arkansas to Lee Gustar Hendrix, Sr. and Hattie Mae Smith. He grew up in a home filled with an abundance of love, laughter and good times. Coming from a large family of sisters and brothers he really didn’t need a lot of friends, but his personality and energy was like a magnet that drew many to be his friend. Leo joined Mt. Olive Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. A. W. Terry; and later New Generation Church under the leadership of Rev. Charles Hood. He attended Arkadelphia Sr. High School and worked as a material handler at Drumco in Arkadelphia. He met and married Vickie Baumgardner on September 25, 2010. There blended family grew to five children and nineteen grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing and loved being in the company of his family and friends. He was truly the life of the party. Leo loved to talk “junk”, joke around and he kept everyone laughing. His greatest joy was spending quality time with his grandchildren. Leo passed into the Lord’s embrace on Friday, June 23, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents; his children, Telecia Booker, Leo Hendrix, Jr, and Porsha Booker; brothers, Charles Page and Essie “Dock” Page; sisters, JoAnn Hendrix, Myra Hendrix, and Barbara Ann Stitt Tatum; his favorite nephew, LaKavis Crow. His smile, hearty laugh and warm embrace will be missed, but never forgotten. Although Leo is no longer here in body; his spirit will live in the lives of his wife, Vickie of Arkadelphia; his children, Ashia Hendrix of Memphis, TN, RaKita Hendrix (Joseph Hymes) of Jonesboro, AR and Michael Booker of Hot Springs, AR; his step-children, Nikki Jennings of Conway, AR and Brandon (Crystal) Jennings of Shelton, WA; nineteen grandchildren; sisters, Gussie Mitchell of Arkadelphia, Kathy (Robert) Herron of Little Rock, June (Garland) Polk of Little Rock, Alfreda Mays of Arkadelphia, Jennifer Hendrix of Benton, Kimberly Hendrix of Arkadelphia and LaTreka (Celita) Stitt-Phillips of Hot Springs; brothers, Lee Gustar Hendrix, Jr., of Atlanta, GA, Ronald (Dale) Hendrix of Little Rock, William Hendrix of Arkadelphia, LaTraze Stitt of Arkadelphia and Mark Osborne of Arkadelphia; and his god-sister, Vanessa Mallett of Arkadelphia.
