Robert Allen Turner was born into time on July 27, 1954 in Gurdon, Arkansas to Allen G. Wilson and Quarlee Turner. He accepted Christ and united with Mt. Canaan Baptist Church at an early age. Robert was a 1974 graduate of Gurdon High School. Shortly after high school he enlisted in the United States Army on August 30, 1974 and was stationed at Ft. Polk in Louisiana. He served as kitchen supervisor and received the National Defense Medal. “Drac” as he was known to many enjoyed hanging with his friends, fishing and entertaining. Robert was a fun-loving and a natural born dancer. He was truly life of the party. His cool personality was a magnet for those who wanted his energy to rub off on them. He had a black belt in martial arts. Although small in stature, he had a big heart and never met a stranger. Drac was the type of man who said what he meant and meant what he said. His life was simple, but not empty. He was who he was. Family, as well as friends, will miss his strength, smile but will never forget his spirit. He passed into the Lord’s embrace Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at his home in Gurdon, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his father, Allen G. Wilson and four brothers, James “Jamie” Bell, Doyle A. Turner, Kelvin Brown and Wallace Brown. He leaves to cherish his memory: his mother, Quarlee Turner; a daughter, Valeria (Anthony) Johnson of Gurdon; three sons, Corey Turner (Zera Hickman) of Gurdon, Robert Tuner, Jr., of Hot Springs and Kevin Beasly of Little Rock; his god-daughter, Alicia Clayborn (Fred Estell, Jr.) of Arlington, TX; two brothers, Thomas Ollison of Gurdon and James Brown of Prescott; seven sisters, Pamela Williams of Raleigh, NC, Lisa (Jerome) Henry of Gurdon, Sharon Murphy of Prescott, Barbara Beal of Prescott, Linda Wilson and Queen Wilson both of California; and his god-father, Henry Bell, Jr., of Arkadelphia. He also leaves 15 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, several friends; his best friends, Randy Bell, Tony Anderson, Henry Charles, Ellis Blake and Rufus Hatley, Jr. A celebration of his life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at Mt. Canaan Baptist Church in Gurdon, Arkansas where Rev. Johnny C. Harris is the pastor and eulogist. Public viewing will be held on Monday from 12 noon until 6pm at Williams Funeral Home.
