Earder Gulley, Jr.

E A R D E R   G U L L E Y, J R. Deacon Earder Gulley Jr. was born on June 14, 1942, in Bluff City, Arkansas to the late Earder and Emma Jewel Gulley. Bro Gulley accepted Christ at an early age and joined the Union Grove Baptist Church where he was active until his health began to fail. He departed this life to be with the Lord at the Ouachita County Medical Center in Camden, Arkansas on August 21, 2017. Deacon Gulley was united in holy matrimony to Sis Annie Ree Smith in 1964 and to this union three children were born. Bro. Gulley was employed with Potlatch and Firestone of Prescott for many years, and he finally retired with International Paper Company of Bluff City in 2004. After retirement, he enjoyed driving the bus for the Prescott School District. As a faithful member of the Union Grove Baptist Church, he served as a Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent, Adult Sunday School Teacher, Cemetery Committee Chairman, and was a member of the Union Grove Male Choir. In 2011, Deacon Gulley married Mrs. Geneva Trotter of Prescott, Arkansas. He loved fish and hunt. His favorite sports teams were the Washington Redskins and the Dodgers. He was preceded in death by his parents Mr. and Mrs. Earder Gulley, Sr., his wife of 39 years, Mrs. Annie Ree Gulley and two brothers, Frank Gulley and Otis Earl Gulley. Leaving to cherish his memory are his wife Mrs. Geneva Gulley of Prescott; three children, Janet Box (Ricky) of Bluff City, Arkansas, Barbara Gulley of Chidester and Willie Joe Gulley (Stephanie) of Pine Bluff, Arkansas; six grandchildren, Dedrick (Vonnie), Jazman, Dannon, Jamal, Kassidy and Kaitlyn; two brothers, Clarence Gulley (Evonne) of Bluff City and Otis Wilson (Carolyn) of Portland, Oregon; four sisters, Helen Haynie of Waterloo, Francis Haynie of Bluff City, Arkansas, Ruby Joe Smith (Earl) of Bluff City, Arkansas and Loretta Purifoy (Jeff) of Chidester, Arkansas. He also leaves to cherish his memories the Smith Family, the Hopson Family, family friends Mia and Kelvin Jackson; many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and his church family. Submitted by the Gulley Family Public viewing will be Friday, August 25, 2017 from 11:00 am until 5:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home Van Buren. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at Union Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Hines, officiating.
