Corine Derance Hughes Johnson was born into this life on March 7, 1954 in Fordyce, Arkansas to the union of Thurman and Shirley Lambert Hughes. She was a graduate of Carthage High School and was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Sparkman, Arkansas where she was a member of the choir. Corine affectionately called “Connie” was a high-spirited worshiper and took advantage of any opportunity to worship. Of all the notable callings, she was proud and blessed to be the mother of one son, Kelsey who was truly the apple of her eye. Connie worked various jobs and never turned down an all expense paid trip or vacation. Her smile and presence would chase chills from any room. She loved to laugh, cook and spend time with her family. Family was a big priority in her life. On Friday, October 20, 2017 in the stillness of her home, she passed into the Lord’s embrace. Her life was full, but not empty. Her earthly presence will be forever missed, but her memory will live on…...forever. She was preceded in death by her father, Thurman Hughes (2008) and brother, Toney Hughes (1991). Her memories will be cherished by her son, Kelsey (Bonnie) Starks of Mequon, WI; her beloved mother, Shirley Hughes of Sparkman, AR; seven grandchildren, Kelsey Starks Jr, Dominique Starks, Dimitri Starks, Briana Little, Jazmen Starks, Storm Starks and Ravin Starks; siblings, Larry (Margaret) Johnson, Warnette Hunter, Terry (Claudetta) Hughes, Barbara (Darrin) Hughes, Meagan Knox, Thelton (Gaye) Hughes, Dexter (Andrea) Know and Marcus Knox. She also leaves a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends will miss her dearly.
