On January 4, 1977 in Malvern, Arkansas Henry L. and JoAnn Bates Harris welcomed the birth of a bouncing bubble of joy who they named Wendy LaShaune Harris. Wendy accepted Christ as a little girl and was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church where she would often attend with her grandmother Bessie M. Bates. Wendy graduated from Malvern High School in 1995. She was a model student and her energy was a pull for the students who loved to laugh and learn. Her wit and charm cultivated her into one of the popular students that walked the halls of Malvern High School. Wendy studied Phlebotomy at PALCO and as a medical assistant at Remington College She worked as a phlebotomist at CARTI in Little Rock and as a substitute teacher in the Malvern School District. She was a former member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and members First Baptist Church Vine. She enjoyed cooking, 80-90’s R&B music and gospel music. She was the proud mother of Jalan and Anizah. She showered them with love and affection. She was a great mother and role model. She had a wide and well known reputation in Malvern for “naming babies”. She gave the name to so many children in Malvern, when someone was pregnant they would call on Wendy to give a name for the baby. She was a precious gift to many. During her life, she made friends across all walks of life. She was loved and no doubt will always be remembered. Many who crossed her path will never forget the glow in her eyes, her eccentric style and her welcoming smile. On Thursday, November 16, 2017 Wendy passed from this life and now rests. She was preceded in death by her father, Henry L. Harris and her beloved grandmother, Bessie M. Bates (March 31, 2008).
