As we retrace the footprints of Sherrill we can only give thanks for the many lives she touched and enriched along life's journey. A bold and self confident woman, she was blessed to enjoy many of God's blessings as a child, a wife, a mother, grandmother, niece and a true friend. Sherrill Allen Jones was born on February 4, 1964 to the proud parents of Melvin and Attie M. Allen Pigg. She was the only child and reaped all of the benefits. She was a friendly and loving little girl who gave tight and warm hugs. She accepted Christ at a tender age and was an active member of Tate Temple COGIC.
She was educated in Arkadelphia and was a 1982 graduate of Arkadelphia High School where she excelled as a student. She attended Henderson State University and grew up to be a loving, kind and intelligent young woman. Sherrill was a true friend and the relationships that she forged with Barbara, Charmaine and Lillian created a sisterhood that is still in existence.
Sherrill enjoyed cooking. She always kept an immaculate house and loved to decorate her home with nice furnishings. She always made an effort to share her love with many who interacted with her. She was an outgoing woman who accepted any challenge. She loved to hunt, fish and even tried camping. Her favorite time was shopping with her aunt Judy.
She was an employee of Henderson State University and often gave advice to the students on the campus. Everyone knew and loved Sherrill. Believing God's Word....and the two shall become one flesh she became Mrs. Sherrill Jones when she married Nathan Jones on August 8, 2014.
The greatest gift she ever received was her daughter, Asha. Sherrill was a hands on mother who played a very active role in her daughter's life. Birthdays and holidays were always special. Their close bond was evident in the smiles and love.
Although Sherrill's life would seem too short to many, those who crossed her path will forever cherish those fond memories. Monday morning, December 18, 2017, marked the beginning of a new day, a beautiful new adventure. For it was on this day that Sherrill Allen-Jones, age 53, was welcomed into the Lord's embrace. She was met by a band of angels, her loved ones who had gone on before her. They gathered around her, ascending through the clouds before leading her to the pearly gates. We are contented to know that she is enveloped in safe hands. For this, we owe gratitude to our Redeemer.
She was preceded in death by her father Melvin Pigg (2007), her mother, Attie Mae Pigg (2015) and grandson Treycen J. Williams (2014).
Sherrill leaves a legacy of strength and determination, both of which are evident in the hearts of her husband, Nathan Jones of Arkadelphia, AR; her daughter, Asha L. Floyd of Houston, TX; a sister, Joyce Candley of Jacksonville, AR; aunts, Erma McElroy, Joyce Heyward and Judy Anderson (Robert) all of Arkadelphia, AR; uncles, J. W. Walker of California, C. W. Allen of Ft. Smith, AR, Hulon Allen of Arkadelphia, AR, and Elder Roy Allen (Barbara) of Arkadelphia, AR; her father and mother-in-law, Tom Nathan and Elizabeth Jones; brothers-in-law, Joe (Flora) Jones, Paul Jones, Charles Jones and Kerry (Patricia) Jones; her sisters-in-law, Hellen (Bill) Gossett, Toma (Odray) Anderson, Patricia McGhee, Linda Jones and Lititia Wesley. She also leaves an innumerable number of cousins; her best friends, Barbara McCloud-Howell, Charmaine Hall and Lillian Sanders, other friends and acquaintances.
