As we retrace the footprints of Mary Ann Sorrells we can only give thanks for the many lives she touched and enriched along life’s journey.
Mary Ann Sorrells began her journey of life on August 3, 1962, at Osceola, Arkansas as the daughter of Charles William and Arlene Haynie Sorrells.
She accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at a young age.
Mary Ann was educated in Nevada County school system and attended Prescott High School. Though often shy, Mary Ann grew up to be a loving, kind and intelligent young woman.
She had an appreciation and loved all types of music. She was an avid card player, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends.
Mary Ann later moved to Kansas City, Missouri where she made several friends and extended family members.
In her 47th season of life Mary Ann received her blessing of immortality on Monday, November 16, 2009, in Kansas City, Missouri.
She was welcomed home by her parents, her siblings, Shirley Conforn and Charlie Sorrells; a grandson, Derris Nolen and a great-niece Arianna Sorrells.
Because love is far greater than death Mary Ann departs this earth in body only. Her gentle smile and infectious laugh lives on in the memories, minds and hearts of her children: Lashondria (Dartelli) Kight, Derrick Nolen and Tawanna Sorrells, all of Hope, Arkansas; seven grandchildren, Kyana Kight, Kaleil Cheatham, Deriyana Nolen, China Kight, Damoney Nolen, Breanna Sorrells and Derrick Nolen, Jr; six brothers, Billy (Lavetrius) Sorrells of Kansas City, Missouri, James (Angie) Sorrells of Hope, Arkansas Finis (Roberta) Sorrells, Michael (Melony) Sorrells, Jerry Sorrells and Chris Sorrells all of Prescott, Arkansas; her grandmother, Macey Haynie of Prescott, Arkansas; and a multitude of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends.
Mary Ann will lie in state on Sunday, November 22, 2009 from 11:00 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
Final tributes to her life will be sharred on Monday, November 23, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the sanctuary of Munns Chapel Baptist Church in Prescott, Arkansas where Rev. Arthur Hill is the pastor. Rev. Johnny Sorrells, her uncle, will preach the homgoing message.
The committal service and final resting place will be in Frist Baptist Cemetery in Okolona, Arkansas.
Bearers of the casket will be Dartelli Kight, Courtney Samuells, D White, Wayne Henry and Johnny Sorrells, Jr. The honorary bearers will be Terry McGill, Edward Bizzarre, Tremaine Sorrells and Jermaine Sorrells.
