Katherine Gipson Bullock

It was a beautiful day in Sparkman, Arkansas, on February 25, 1948, when another baby girl was born to Onnie and Arlline Craig Gipson, they name her Katherine, now know to her family and friends as “Kathy”. She confessed a hope in Christ at an early age at Harmony Baptist Church in Sparkman, Arkansas. After moving to Rockford, Illinois, Kathy became a member of Jerusalem Baptist Church, Rev. Calvin Malone was her pastor. Kathy attended Sparkman Training School. She married Ira Junior Bullock and one of Kathy’s accomplishments in life was to make a loving home that would produce a tapestry of memories her family would forever cherish. On Saturday, December 12, 2009, in her 62nd season the sun set on her life in Rockford, Illinois at approximately 12: 35 p.m. She was welcomed to her heavenly home by her parents, husband, and one brother, James Gipson. Her gentle spirit will live on in the memories, minds and hearts of her children, Rickey Gipson and Annette Bullock of St. Paul, Minnesota; Calvin Bullock and Andre (Tiffany) Bullock of Arkadelphia; her eleven grandchildren, Cinnamon Bullock, Angela Gipson, Rickey Gipson, Jr., Christian Gipson, Destiny Gipson, Diamond Bullock, Andre’Vion Bullock, Maladia Bullock, Draylin Bullock, Juan Garcia and Stedmon Garcia; her brother, Eligah (Patsy) Gipson of Rockford, Illinois; her six sisters, Earthline (Roosevelt) Thomas and Versie (Aaron) Allen of Arkadelphia, Bessie (Joshua) Williams, Shirley Thrower and Mildred (Charles) McCall of Rockford, Illinois and Charline (Phillip) Newell of Oakland, California, her God sister, Bobbie (Marvin) Walker, her special friend, Cora M. Adams, her five God children, Jenny Bowman, Tony Hughes, Dexter Johnson, Savon Johnson and April Moody; her three aunts, Moriah, Maliza and Lela, a caravan of nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends. The body of Katherine Gipson Bullock will lie in state on Friday, December 18, 2009 from 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family will receive friends and share with them the Images of Life DVD from 6 – 7 p.m. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of Harmony Baptist Church in Sparkman, Arkansas where Rev. Harvey Goodwin is the pastor. Rev. Vernon Moody, Sr., pastor of Mt. Morriah Baptist Church, Arkadelphia, will be the officiant and Rev. J. L. Newborn, pastor of Macedonia Baptist Church, Sparkman, will preach the celebration message. The committal service and final resting place will be in the Harmony Community Cemetery. The Bearers of the Casket will be Eric Allen, Jeffrey Allen, Tony Hughes, Bobbie King, Darryl Johnson, Vernon Moody, Jr., and Darryl Simpson. The Honorary Bearers are Jamie Allen, Dexter Gipson, Mike King, DeAngelo McCall, Allen Simpson and Anthony Simpson.
