The Life and Times of
“Stan Loran”
Stanley Loran Williams was born on July 27th, 1960 at Quachita Memorial Hospital in Camden, Arkansas to Elzadie Harrison Williams and the late Joe Williams, Jr. He grew up in the Pine Grove community and united with the Ebenezer Baptist Church early in life.
As a teen Stanley later joined the Harmony Baptist Church where he was active in the young adult choir. Stanley attended the Sparkman Training School for four years before consolidating with the Sparkman Public Schools. Stanley graduated from Sparkman High School in 1978 and for a brief period lived and worked in Little Rock.
He was employed by restaurants and later in Fordyce by Georgia Pacific Corporation and Evans St. Clair Rubber Company. In search of adventure he moved to Dallas, Texas where he lived for 8 years and was employed with the Lone Star Gas Corporation as a mail clerk and was later promoted to mail distribution manager.
Stanley returned to Arkansas and resided in Little Rock for 15 years where he worked in various restaurants including Red Lobster, the Faded Rose and Diane’s catering, while living there he united with the Second Baptist Church Barrow Road. He returned home to Sparkman for four years where he reunited with the Harmony Baptist Church and the Sparkman area church community.
Stan loved attending and singing in church. He was active in the area churches food ministries and the Sparkman Singing Union. He strongly encouraged the Sparkman area churches to fellowship inter-denominationally in the Singing Union. Stanley later moved to Ft. Smith, Arkansas where he united with the St. James Baptist Church and lived until departing this life on May 20th. He received his blessing of immortality on Thursday May 20th, 2010.
Family and friends will miss his big smile and loud laughter as well as his bright spirit. Stan did it his way and did not mind telling you his true feelings.
He leaves to celebrate and honor his life’s journey: his loving mother Elzadie Harrison Williams of Sparkman , brother Stacy L. Williams, Sr. , neice Julianna Rose Belle Williams and nephew Stacy L. Williams, Jr. of Little Rock, Ar. Aunts, Gertrude Williams , Dorthy Jean Juniel , and Geneva Bost of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Marilyn Ollison Owens of Arkadelphia. Uncles, Lee Andrew Williams of Camden, AR, Douglass Williams of St. Louis, Mo and many cousins and friends.
Stanley will lie in state on Wednesday, May 26th from 12 noon until 7:00 p.m. The family will greet and receive friends from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m.
The last farewell and tribute to his life will be held on Thursday, May 27th at 1:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of Harmony Baptist Church where Rev. Harvey Goodwin is the pastor. Rev. Eric Simms of New Horizon Ministries of Ft. Smith, Arkansas will preach a message of encouragement.
Committal service and final resting place in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Sparkman.
